Consumer Reports Magazine iPad App Reviews

C R tablet app

This is the worst app in the App Store. I am a magazine subscriber, and have been for years. Following the instructions to the tee I find it is impossible to activate the app. Tried many times. Its no use to trying to call either. Cant get them on the line! All of this coupled with the new magazine format is pushing me to not renewing. This is the first time Ive ever down rated anything on the "net"

Cant Log in

Been a subscriber for two decades and this is irritating, after accepting my initial setup for email and password it wont let me log in. This app its just not up to Consumer Reports standards, sorry guys, get a new app developer. Welcome to the digital age.

Ridiculous

Impossible to log on. Verifies then rejects Considering not even renewing print subscription after this experience

Does not work

I just downloaded this app. Every time I try to use it, it crashes and shuts down in less than 30 seconds. Shocking that it so bad when it comes from a company that makes its business by criticizing others. Dont waste your time with this.

Hopeless

I am a long-time subscriber to the online version of CR, and use it for the ratings. The app does not allow for access to the ratings, at least not in any straightforward way.

Takes too long to log in

Each time I use this app it takes several minutes to log in. It doesnt remember who you are and there appears to be no way you can store your password. Of all the subscription apps I have this is the most annoying.

App works good.

31 Jan. 2016. I have an older iPad 2012 running iOS 9.2.1 I had no problems signing up or logging on. App works good. Consumer Reports . Org is even a better site but it is not free. Both will save you time money and headaches with the information they provide.

HORRIBLE!!!!

Horrible, horrible, horrible. For a consumer oriented publication, this app is a mess. Every time I try to log in, not only will it not accept my information, they have changed my login. And changed the whole SYSTEM of logins! I have to talk to a customer service rep to get access. NO OTHER APP HAS EVER PUT ME THROUGH THIS AMOUNT OF TROUBLE FOR ROUTINE ACCESS!!! I have been a print subscriber for 40 years. CR has saved me thousands of dollars over the years. But never have I encountered a more incompetently run web presence. Corporate fire you web designers and get some competent ones. r,

Sucked for me

I just logged into the website and the same user ID and password did not work on this app.

Worse than imaginable

For what used to be a great magazine, this app is so bad that if I could give it zero stars I would. The login process is cumbersome, and woe is you of you forget your password, youre never getting back in. You can view the issues, but dont try to search for a specific topic, the index search function doesnt work AT ALL. Consumer Reports should be ashamed.

Disappointed

I would expect a much better and user-friendly app from "Consumer Reports". You should give your own app a zero rating. Too many hoops to jump through just to get in. And should be a "remember password" option for the iPad. I dont carry my password list with me on the go. Get with it folks!!!

What a piece of crap!

And I am being kind. Wasted an hour of my life trying to get signed into it. Called customer service and although she tried repeatedly, she couldnt get it to work either.

Works as expected for me

I had no trouble installing and using this on my iPad Air.

Constant login issue

Ok every new issue it logs me out and wants a new login.....what happened to auto login on an iPad...it is now a pain to use CU No other mag I have does this.

Poor

Only redeeming feature is you can read the magazine. Real value would come if research was easy. Dont bother.

Not worthy of the CR name

My biggest frustration - every time I go to use it the app wants my account number, as if I am registering again as a new user - username and password isnt enough. This makes the app virtually worthless - I dont carry the magazine around with me, so I dont have the account number with me so I cant access even previously downloaded issues.

WORST APP!!!

Ive never bothered to write reviews, but the caliber of this app has to be the worst. What makes this ironic is that CU is dedicated to reviewing and making judgements on the "quality" of other products. How would CU rate their own "product"? Seems no matter what you do to login, it will bounce back and forth to login again! The login options are either account/zip or username/password, but it does not matter which you choose, itll ask for both sets of login options....and still FAILS! Why should I constantly need to login time and time again...when it does finally and randomly log me in.

Worst app ever

What a disappointment! Im a long time print subscriber but, no matter how hard I try, cannot log in. For a company whose mission statement is to rate products, their own product gets a black dot. Come on guys, get with the program.

Not great

I have a digital subscription and this app keeps asking for my magazine account number in order to use. Pretty useless.

Inflexible

Having been a long time subsdcriber to CR both paper and online, I expected that their product would certainly be the equivalent of a Best Buy. But no. The iPad version simply will not rotate into landscape position. Ive tried everything but it only rotates 180 degrees in landscape. I use a cover with an attached keyboard from Logitech for a third gen iPad: it stays in landscape. CRs app is the only one I use that wont rotate. If there is some way to do this, it sure is not easy to find: not in FAQs, not in the apps settings page, not in any toolbar: I give up. I certainly dont want to disassamble the iPad from the cover+keyboard and put the ipad into a stand in portrait every time I use it. And I dont want to have to go to my iMac every time I want to access CRs goldmine of product information. If anyone at CR reads this, and Ive somehow missed how to get a rotation into landscape on a third gen iPad, give us an answer. CR of all organizations ought to do better than this.
