I thought this app would replace going to the website. It only provide access to the current issue of Consumer Reports and previous issues if you want to pay for them. Not very useful in my opinion. Also, the login system is very confusing. Not worth the effort.
I have the Consumer Reports Rating app on my Samsung smartphone. Guess what! Its an actual app in which you can do searches and read the resulting ratings. All that this iPad "app" does is download the magazine. Why bother? Ill just go to the Consumer Reports website, since Im a digital subscriber as well a a print subscriber.
Just installed the app. No problems at all setting up the account to log in with my CR username and password. It is only during the initial set up that you have to also give the account number and zip, after that just the username and password. I had a print subscription already. I dont log out as I close as I am the only one using the iPad but did log out and re-login just to test it. In future probably will go to digital only.
Current issue already received by mail does still not display. This deserves zero stars but thats not an option. For a so called consumer advocacy magazine its beyond belief!!!!!!!!
The app routinely forgets my accounts username password. Lots of fun to keep looking up and typing that long random string in. I dont know why they cant find a professional development team to work on this. Navigation in the issues is bizarre and annoying. The app disappoints in every way.
How do I look up product reviews isnt this the purpose of this site? I dont wish to purchase old copies of the magazine. (???)
Hit and miss trying to login. Hard to believe the app cant do something as simple as convert to landscape. Solid "black dot" rating for this app -- "Not Recommended" due to extremely poor road tests!
Why CR doesnt hire better app creators escapes me. One must continually re-sign in, and the pages dont zoom. They should hire the designers of the Nook magazine app or of Fortune magazine.
Another truly awful subscription app. If you experience any trouble, neither Consumer Reports nor Apple will help you. However, each will refer you to the other for help.
Exact problem as outlined by other users.
